Open ADS-B data
global coverage
Italian MLAT
We collect ADS-B and Mode-S data from our worldwide receiver network, with MLAT active over Italy — including military aircraft. Non-profit, unfiltered.
What we collect
Global ADS-B coverage
Aggregated feed from our worldwide receiver network, adsb.lol and theairtraffic.com. Global coverage, high density over Italy and the Mediterranean.
Italian MLAT
Multilateration on aircraft without full ADS-B transponders, including Italian military. The only active MLAT service over Italy.
Mode-S BDS50/BDS60
True Air Speed, magnetic heading and Mach number via Mode-S Comm-B. Used to reconstruct upper-troposphere wind profiles.
Ongoing research
From airspace to science
Upper-troposphere wind measurement from aircraft in flight
Commercial aircraft are distributed meteorological sensors at altitude. By extracting wind components from Mode-S messages (BDS50/BDS60) and comparing them against ERA5 reanalysis and IASI satellite profiles, we are validating the quality of avionics data as an independent meteorological source.

Data quality depends on network density. A Raspberry Pi and an RTL-SDR antenna are all you need to add coverage to your area. Total cost under €30.
