Coverage in your area
Before you build a product on our data, see how the network covers your area: how many aircraft we saw in the last 24 hours, how fresh the positions are and how many receivers are around. Real data, updated every 5 minutes, no key needed.
Try it with your own requests
A free key is enough to ask for the same areas through the API. Paid plans raise the limits and the radius.
For developers and AI assistants
The same answer is available as JSON, no key: up to 30 requests a minute per IP address. Radius 25, 50, 100 or 200 km (others are rounded), centre rounded to 0.1 degrees.
https://api.flyitalyadsb.com/api/coverage?lat=45.46&lon=9.19&radius=100 last_24h.aircraft- different aircraft seen in the last 24 hours
last_24h.hourly- aircraft per UTC hour starting at "from", 24 values; the last is the current hour
last_24h.cells- [lat, lon, aircraft] per 0.1-degree cell
now- aircraft with a position now, on the ground, by source (adsb, mlat, other) and position age in seconds
receivers- receivers in the public density cells around the point
How we work it out
The last 24 hours come from the overflights index, the same as /v2/overflights: for every 0.1-degree cell, the aircraft that passed and in which hours. We count the cells whose centre is inside the circle, each aircraft once. The index is updated every 5 minutes.
Now: the aircraft with a position inside the circle in the live data, with where the position comes from and how many seconds ago it arrived.
Receivers: only the 100 km cells with at least 3 receivers that did not ask for privacy, the same as on the network page. We never say where a single receiver is.
These are the aircraft our network sees, not all traffic: aircraft flying without ADS-B away from MLAT receivers can be missing.
